Creating better cities together.
Friday September 25, 2026 4:15pm - 5:30pm CEST
Have you thought about what the city experience is like for groups in disadvantageous social positions? Have you thought about what their everyday practices are like within the urban fabric and how do they intersect with the rest of the functions of the city?

This interactive workshop session, based on the experience of its two organizers on the development of strategies to achieve more inclusive cities, will use different personas to engage the participants to reflect on their positionality, future initiatives and urban experience in the core domains of social integration: education, health, employment and housing. The participants will be grouped in small teams, with each one of them adopting a different persona. Together, they will co-create a vision by creating a collage and suggesting interventions in different urban scenarios. These proposed visions will be shaped by specific design values, spatial variables and types of interventions developed to inform the participatory construction of cities that are more socially and environmentally just by placing the everyday lives of all its residents - especially those that have historically not been taken into account in planning practices, such as asylum seekers, infants, or elderly, - together with environmental sustainability at the center of urban decisions.
