How to design, plan, and produce podcasts for placemaking and community participation

For cities and placemakers, there’s so much more to podcasts than interviewing experts or disseminating information. Podcasting holds huge potential to be integrated as a participatory placemaking tool and practice to drive active community dialogue and enable co-creation. 


For example, podcasts can be used for urban research, democratising decision-making, closing the engagement feedback loop, and creating community-led content through placemaking activations. 


This interactive workshop will guide participants through designing, planning, and producing a podcast for participatory placemaking using the MethodKit for Podcasts - a visual thinking tool for developing podcasts available in more than 45 languages.


Participants will learn how to develop a podcast oriented to placemaking; innovative ways to gather audio podcast content; shift community participation from passive to active engagement; and, work in small groups to exchange ideas.


Along with using the English version, the workshop will also demonstrate the newly released MethodKit for Podcasts cards in Polish.
