Creating better cities together.
Thursday September 24, 2026 2:30pm - 3:45pm CEST
How can cities build resilience by working with nature and communities?
This session brings together three complementary perspectives on placemaking: experimental design, neighborhood-led action, and innovative Nature-based Solutions. While each initiative operates at a different scale and context, all share a common ambition: to create urban environments that support both human and non-human life.
From Berlin, Rouge explores how art, architecture, and collaboration with other species can help us reimagine public space and reconnect with the more-than-human world. From Rotterdam, the Green and Healthy Neighborhood program demonstrates how integrated local action can address climate adaptation, biodiversity, health, and social equity. The European GreenInCities project showcases how Nature-based Solutions, technology, and co-creation can support climate-neutral, resilient, and inclusive urban futures in Prato.
Together, these initiatives show how urban greening can strengthen social ties, improve ecological performance, and turn public space into a shared resource for people and nature.
The session includes presentations from each speaker, followed by an interactive discussion where participants will exchange ideas, reflect on the projects, and consider how these approaches can inform their own practice.
Join us for inspiring examples, practical insights, and new perspectives on creating healthier, more resilient, and more connected cities.
