This interactive workshop invites participants to explore how small-scale, local transition experiments can catalyze meaningful change in public space. Drawing inspiration from street-based interventions such as Parking Day, the session introduces transition experiments as hands-on, real‑world actions that challenge existing norms and open up alternative futures. These experiments are guided by five key characteristics of strong transition experiments: problem‑driven, radical, strategic, mobilising, and feasible.

After a short introduction, we head outside and turn the street around the venue into our testing ground. Participants roll up their sleeves, observe the surroundings and, in small groups, select a concrete spatial or social issue to work on. Through a structured process of ideation, selection, and rapid prototyping, each group then designs a small‑scale intervention that can be implemented within the session.

The emphasis lies on learning by doing: testing ideas in public space, engaging others, and reflecting on outcomes. By the end of the workshop, participants will have executed a micro‑experiment and gained insight into how such interventions can contribute to creating safer, more inclusive, more engaging and, in general, more meaningful places.
