About me
Katja Hermes works at CityLAB Berlin, a civic innovation lab where she initiated and developed the Kiezlabor, Berlin's mobile urban lab. Since 2023, the Kiezlabor has toured more than 20 neighbourhoods, creating spaces where citizens and public administration develop ideas together and where community input feeds directly into planning and political decision-making. Before CityLAB, she spent seven years designing cultural development strategies for cities across Europe and North America at Sound Diplomacy, and co-founded the Music Cities Network. She holds a degree in Geography with a specialisation in Urban Development from the University of Trier.
