About me
Marrit Terpstra (Netherlands) is an urban designer with a strong interest in the relationship between people and their living environment. Trained as an engineer, she transitioned into policy and now works hands-on in neighbourhoods through placemaking for health. She is currently involved in the neighbourhood prevention programme of the Public Health Service Haaglanden (GGD Haaglanden), where she contributes to creating healthier and more connected living environments.
Her work is driven by an ongoing exploration of the balance between the rational and the intuitive. During her studies, she developed an interest in environmental psychology, which she continues to deepen alongside her growing knowledge of plants, soil and ecology. In projects such as a community picking garden, she observes how shared green spaces can foster connection, ownership and a sense of belonging.
