About me
Negin Amiri has been a PhD candidate in Spatial Planning at the Faculty of Spatial Planning, TU Dortmund University, since early 2023. Her research focuses on urban design governance and the development of innovative planning strategies that foster civic engagement and support informal practices in the co-creation of public spaces and social infrastructure. Through her work, she investigates how participatory planning and urban design approaches can promote social inclusion and contribute to more inclusive, equitable, and resilient urban environments.Since March 2024, she has also been serving as a Research Associate at the Chair of City and Regional Planning at TU Dortmund University. In this position, she works on the ERASMUS+ cooperation project UPRUN – Urban Planning for Social Resilience in Urban Neighbourhoods. Prior to joining TU Dortmund University, Negin Amiri received her Master’s degree in Urban Design from Bu-Ali Sina University, Hamedan, Iran. Between 2015 and 2022, she worked as an Urban Planning Researcher at the Urban Planning and Architecture Research Center of Iran (UARC) and as an Urban Designer at the Urban Regeneration Corporation of Iran under the Ministry of Urban Development. Her work focused on public–civic partnerships and democratic urban governance, where she coordinated and implemented national and international urban regeneration projects aimed at promoting participatory and collaborative urban development.In addition, she has collaborated on the EU Horizon 2020 project URBiNAT (Healthy Corridors as Drivers of Social Housing Neighbourhoods for the Co-creation of Social, Environmental and Marketable Nature-Based Solutions). This experience has further strengthened her expertise in participatory urban planning, co-creation processes, and the implementation of nature-based solutions in urban regeneration.
