About me
Prof. Dr. Toni Gossmann is Professor of Computational Systems Biology at the Faculty of Bio- and Chemical Engineering, TU Dortmund University. His research group focuses on the evolutionary analysis of biological systems using population and molecular genetics approaches, with applications to key questions in ecology, medicine, and biology. The group frequently uses songbirds as model organisms to investigate patterns of genetic, epigenetic, and ecological adaptation. In addition, they develop and apply omics-based analytical approaches to a broad range of species, including the Alpine marmot, fruit flies, fungi, and bacterial systems. These studies are typically supported by research-question–driven, customized analytical pipelines designed to address specific evolutionary and biological problems.
