The Playable, Resilient City: Co-Creating Urban Futures with the Next Generation
Thursday September 24, 2026 11:45am - 1:00pm CEST
Can centering a city’s youngest residents solve the overlapping crises of urban isolation, climate vulnerability, and rigid municipal bureaucracy?
This high-energy, interactive laboratory challenges traditional "child-blind" urban planning by positioning children as the ultimate protagonists of city resilience. Merging groundbreaking frameworks from India, Denmark, and the Netherlands, this session bridges the gap between grassroots tactical urbanism, historical adventure play, and high-level climate strategy.
Why you should join:Instead of sitting through passive presentations, you will enter a cross-continental design studio.
What you will learn and experience:
  • The "Return on Play" Matrix: A finance-backed framework to successfully argue for playful social infrastructure inside strict municipal budgets.
  • Climate-Play Toolkits: Practical methods from Amsterdam’s KIEM program to teach communities about alternative energy and water adaptation through play.
  • Tactical Governance: Proven strategies to broker "unlikely coalitions" between grassroots communities, corporate partners, and municipal police.
You will actively apply a "Child-Impact Lens" to turn urban dead zones into vibrant, intergenerational hubs. You won't just leave inspired—you will walk out with a concrete, downloadable "Playable City Manifesto" packed with fiscal, environmental, and design tools to disrupt your own local bureaucracy.
