Join us for this unique workshop! We will implement the principles of place-led development on the exciting case of the Social Square (Placu Społeczny), the most important area development in the city centre of Wroclaw.Other than its name suggests, it offers no social experience, but is a place of heavy infrastructure. In the past decades, numerous plans were made, none implemented, leaving the area deserted.
Place Led Development is new area development, based on the values of great places and great communities.
This workshop is organised by the Place Led Development Working Group, the ULI Placemaking Council, and the City of Wroclaw.
During this workshop we will:
- Visit the site.
- Introduction by the City of Wroclaw: the site, the context and the plan.
- Introduction: Place Led Development.
- Work on the site in small teams, using the principles of Place Led Development as a fundament. Propose a placemaking approach that, with this long term vision in mind, starts tomorrow, and bring new energy into the area together with the city’s key stakeholders.
- Present the team’s work in front of the local jury.
- Closing plenary discussion about which inspiration we take from this.
