In this age where nightlife venues are disappearing or threatened, where is nightlife going and what role does it play in a chaotic world where democracy is in decline and marginalized groups are facing often violent pushback? This interactive workshop is an open conversation on the challenges facing nightlife in Europe right now. Case studies from the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy and Greece will be presented on key issues such as future-proofing nightlife, queer spaces and safe(r) spaces, and we will try to answer to the bigger question: how can different needs and desires coexist in the city that comes alive from 6 pm to 6 am? Is there a future for nightlife in Europe?
